TO: The Masonic Family in the Jurisdiction of the District of Columbia
The gospel of Luke Chapter 1 verse 35 tells us “And the angel answered her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy– the Son of God”. Many cultures according to their religious beliefs celebrate this holiday season in different ways. United we can use this time to reflect on all of the trials and triumph we have collectively overcome this year. It is my sincere hope that each of you be reminded of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I thank you for your tenacity, love, prayers and dedication as vital members of our Prince Hall Masonic Family of the District of Columbia. Let us ever remember to make a sincere effort to honor the almost unimaginable sacrifices that have been made and are continuing to be made by the men and women of our Armed Forces. Many of which remain deployed during the holiday season.
As Freemasons we practice universal tolerance that permits all of our members to embrace their various faiths and celebrate together. We have so much to be grateful for in our wonderful country. It is my hope that all Masons and Eastern Stars will join me and reflect on our joyous circumstances with gratitude, rather than spending a second of our short existence on negative thoughts.
I love each of you and would encourage you to be charitable to your fellow man. We’re all busy people, but we can find a few hours to give to those less fortunate during this Holiday season. Do whatever you can to be a blessing to others.
Finally, as we bring a close to 2011, I wish for you and our Prince Hall Family the most prosperous New Year of 2012. Let’s grow together as a people, as brothers and sisters and as a jurisdiction.
MacKinnon W. Myers, 33°
